Curriculum updates for HPE F-10 and VCE (HHD, PE and OES) | Term 2, 2024
Please read on for an update from Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) about some important pieces of work that have been completed/ongoing across Health and Physical Education (HPE) both F-10 and VCE (HHD, PE and OES).
F-10 Health and Physical Education (HPE)
Victorian Curriculum 2.0 – revision update
The release of the revised Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Health and Physical Education is gazetted for ‘mid 2024’, with an update potentially provided to all HPE teachers before the end of term 2.
VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies (OES)
Resources for teachers
In early May, the VCAA held a PL session supporting teachers on implementing Unit 4 Area of Study 3. If you missed this session the recording and notes can be found here.
OES exam dates 2024
The 2024 OES exam will be held on Monday 11 November 11.45am – 2.00pm. Please use this link to access the VCAA website.
Free excursion or incursion about outdoor careers
Outdoors Victoria (OV) is partnering with all Victorian universities and TAFE/RTOs offering outdoor leadership and outdoor education courses to bring you a free excursion or incursion about outdoor careers. Lecturers and teachers from your local institutions will deliver these sessions. The session covers the following content from unit 2, outcome 1:
Key knowledge
Understandings of vocational perspectives of outdoor environments including at least two of the following:
- Outdoor leading and guiding
- Education

What’s new videos are here & upcoming support materials & PL
- The revised VCE Health and Human Development for implementation (Units 1-4) in 2025 now has a series of five short ‘What’s new videos’ that help identify the key changes to the study. They can be found here (scroll down to ‘2025 implementation’).
- The support materials are due for publication by the end of June.
- Webinar registration is now live for our Unit ½ webinar (Tuesday 6 August) and Unit ¾ webinar (Tuesday 27 August). These webinars are designed to explore the changes in more depth following teacher engagement with the SD, support materials and ‘What’s new videos’. Registration can be completed here.
